On December 19, 2025, a new Urban Pole™ Lite base station pole was installed in Kuninkaanmäki, Vantaa, to enhance mobile network coverage and capacity. The project was carried out by Orbis Oy in collaboration with Elisa Oyj and the City of Vantaa.
Kuninkaanmäki is a low-rise residential area near Sipoonkorpi National Park, where traditional base station structures are often unsuitable due to limited space, visual sensitivity and zoning requirements. Urban Pole™ Lite offers an optimal solution: a compact, visually discreet base station pole with integrated fiber, power and 5G antennas housed within the structure. The design supports faster permitting and fits naturally into its surroundings.
The mechanical pole structure was manufactured by Tehomet Oy, with cabling and enclosures produced at Orbis’ own production facility in Saue, Estonia.
“Solutions that allow network capacity to be improved while still fitting into the urban environment are both desirable and valuable from the city’s perspective,” says Markus Harkonmäki, Senior Advisor, City of Vantaa.
